Tolaga bay pier

This pair is located in the north island and is the longest pier in New Zealand. It totals 660 meters and was built in 1929 to allow shipping to access the relatively shallow bay. This was used to load and unload cargo ships that were carrying supplies to help build up the east coast. It was commissioned to be taken down but people protests and it still remains today.
